I think I am going to roll a Shaman on next iteration of a fresh P99 server. I've never really played one that significantly as a main so I'm saving that for the next server.

Good idea honestly. Shaman IMHO is the best healer in classic because they can solo great and can also join groups very easily if they want to [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] hybrids is rough in classic because they still have that XP penalty. I remember trying to level an SK and in the time I would normally have hit level 50 on character, I had just hit level 30 on my SK (which is an extreme hell level for troll sk in classic). That was around the time period I quit playing on Green.

Clerics heal much better 1-59, and even at 60 they still heal significantly better vs a Shaman. On P99 Clerics can also solo-level very well, as long as they stick to undead (I soloed one at about the same speed as Loramin). And of course, Clerics are always wanted in groups.

Similarly, Druids can solo even faster, and can get groups ... but the Cleric will be much more in demand.

My point being, I really don't think Shaman shines as a class from 1-59. Cleric is (arguably) much stronger, with about Shaman solo-leveling speed, but better group desirability and healing ability. Likewise a Druid levels faster than either Cleric or Shaman, and is still somewhat wanted in groups.

IMHO the awesomeness of the Shaman class is really after you reach the top-end and get all the toys. Until then, I really don't think they're the best healing class.

I started server as iksar shaman and got to lv 55 until I had enough cash for a fungi and cof and then I started my warrior. Those quests are top tier here.

Oh yeah, of the three healers they have the least group desirability ... but conversely, they also have the most soloability of the three.

When we have a druid healer, we are still looking for a healer.

The druid can pick them up when we finally get one though, which is nice.
