Getting bazillions of dollars so they can afford to go to a country or state not run by uninformed fascists and get the treatment they need (that was presumably reccomended by a doctor, until right wingers decided they are the experts on medical procedures out of their overwhelming arrogance)

That or drowning hospitals in lawsuits until the idiot lawmakers can do nothing but ram through universal healthcare, as none of them are solvent, but they probably won't do that until these kind of problems have reached the ivory towers. Sorta like rural hospitals are doing in a lot of counties.

From talking to trans kids, I’ve never once met one who said something like “I’ve always felt like I was a girl. Oh is that called ‘trans’? I’ve never heard of that”

I’ve also never once heard one say “my teacher is trans or told me what trans is and now I think I’m that”. Not once

They ALWAYS hear about being trans from either a friend who is, often a friend they want to identify with and have a stronger bond with (which peer pressures them into thinking maybe they should be trans too), or from online

We have to hope that the clinicians are able to sus this stuff and not put kids on life changing medications recklessly, but I would rather them be evaluated by a non-queer clinician (which could be the case). I understand that being a queer clinician could be the only way to get a subsection of kids to engage with counseling at all, and it’s amazing for rapport building (although we are taught NOT to share personal info about ourselves to clients, that’s always been a big no no unless one works in substance abuse peer support as a former addict). But I just don’t trust a queer clinician to not have a bias and be pushing for that affirmation result

This is why I am a technological determinist. Everyone here is arguing about decisions and consequences and "making the wrong choice."

Human history is the story of a species that has continuously chased the tail of its own inventions, dealing both with their intended and unintended consequences.

A technological determinist is baffled that people on a roller coaster argue about how the roller coaster needs to go this way, or it needs to not be built, or some people need to be careful. And surely there is an age limit!

Things make sense when you realize human evolution has always been a giant game of technological crack the whip. We're just passengers on a very risky ride, that involves technological hurdles not all species [edit: or individuals] pass. We are doing fairly well, all things considered.
