Thats really funny! A lot of people do and have immigrated to France though. Perhaps they thought you were like 2nd+ generation from France and emigrated to US? It’s like many Patels come from west africa, not direct from the subcontinent. Or maybe they were just plain ignant.

It’s interesting the difference in stereotype for the same person depending on how they are described - i can see why someone would describe themself as a charming sexy Persian instead of risking been seen as any one of the mixed bag of stereotypes they could otherwise get viewed as.

Iranians are not popular at all right now. It was similar after the hostage crisis. This is a nadir for us as a people. I used to think the US invading Iran would be horrible and dumb but honestly, Iran is so bad right now that it couldn’t get any worse. I hope for the best but I’m not optimistic about the prospects for the future (IE I understand why people dislike Russians, Iranians, and chiense, we are collectively being dickheads)
