Catacombs exist all over Europe. I think they started as defensive structures but were repurposed into mass graves.

one theory about the millions of perfectly carved sandstone slabs the egyptian pyramids are made of its that they weren't cut, they were poured in place, but archeologists haven't been able to recreate that type of sandstone either.

That's a cool idea too.

Stone properties aside, you'd only have to defeat friction to pull out or break the mold it was poured into. Much easier than lifting.
