As the argument escalated he knew, of course, that he would badly lose if it came to violence. But he knew that the Shimmering Sea Spirit was oddly prideful of his drumming ability, and so he challenged him to a drumming contest. But the spirit was tricked because Hubert knew that the sea spirit was currently holding a shield of the tsunami, and that he could never have both his drums and shield at once.
