Around here the bodegas are always getting fined for selling people smokes and beer with foodstamps.

One of em got shut down like 2 months back for buying "Benefit Cards" for about 1/2 their value -- then using the cards themselves at other stores.

If you're unaware "food stamps" are no longer pieces of paper -- you get a fucking credit card that you just swipe.

I don't pay for television, my mother is nice enough to pay for my phone while I'm in school, and internets is kind of a necessity when you're a student. I'm on the cheapest internet plan possible (Up to 1.5MB download speed!!!!). Believe me, I've cut down on my bills as much as possible. I just work a shitty job with limited hours because of school.

You can't even live on minimum wage -- not where I live at least.

40 hours a week will just barely be enough to pay for rent and monthly food expenses. And that's the irony of it all.

The people who work are the people who SHOULD be eligible for government help; but they're the least likely to get it.

When I was basically homeless a few years back, staying at friends places, me and another dude (both white males in our mid 20s) went down to social services -- we were both denied any benefits - they wouldn't even give us food stamps.

We were the only 2 white people in the place -- and the black bitch at the booth next to me, with 4 screaming kids that she wasn't even watching -- was handed $1000 ***cash***

This one bitch I lived with was living in a ***3 bedroom apartment*** by herself. Me and my girlfriend moved in. As well as my buddy (the one I went to the welfare store with) and his girlfriend too.

All government paid -- heat / hot water paid for -- telephone service payed for -- $100 / week Benefit Card (food stamps) -- and $500 a month **CASH**

All that went to the person on welfare but we all reaped the benefits. We had 4 people living there working 30-40 hours a week, and none of us ever had to pay rent, electricity, heat, hot water or food.

Only way to live folks!

I lived in the ghetto for like 2 years -- the above describes basically every apartment in the complex I lived in.
