Alright, so there are a few red flags here:
1) You went AFK for a long time with another player's items on you without warning them. 2) You don't remember his name, but you were close enough that he lent you the item and I assume he spammed you with tells while you were AFK. 3) He was online long enough to petition about you but he wasn't online when you got back? Something seems off here... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm still in the same zone, have never left. I again start by shouting, /friends, and /petitioning for a GM to take this item from me. I have yet to see him again, and it is a sad state of the community to meme on me for this. I guess it is now my responsibility to spend my entire P99 career trying to get an FBSS back to someone who has seemingly little to no overlap with my playtime, or a friends group large enough to let him know. I'm just a guy who played EQ back in the day like you, and was glad to find a way to do that again. I had just had my first group after grinding solo in Kunark. I'm sorry that is troll bait to you.

I was not close with this person at all. He was in my group and I was doing my job well and he just seemed nice and prolly wanted me to be able to do more DPS. I remember being surprised he had one because he was a caster but said he was cleaning off his monk. I friended him after he traded it to me. I exclaimed how amazed I was. That was it. I'm really hoping that it was his name on my friends list, but I cannot be 100%.
I went AFK for a long time, that is the nature of playing in my 30s and not in my teens. Sometimes things take a while. In this case, it was pulling ribs out of the smoker and going to feed my dogs. I think I got sidetracked and went to bed, and continued my work schedule. I forgot about p99 for I think like two days, logged in the whole time. Didn't even know that was possible, but I remember coming back and being amazed the game was still on. I immediately began trying to contact my former group to track him down. Maybe bad shit has happened to people in this forum a lot, and I understand having that perspective. But occasionally people aren't pieces of shit. I have nothing to gain here by telling this, as a GM unbanned me. If anything, you may have something to gain knowing that not everyone is guilty. Sometimes mistakes are made. This was one, and I am still trying to do what I can to make it right.

Go to your p99 install directory, logs, character name log file, search for "flowing black silk sash" since it shows up when they put it in the trade window, and you'll know exactly who gave it to you.

Anyone who thinks this dude is an intentional scammer or a thief is a moron. Scammers aren't coming to the discussion forum to make this post. They're taking the item and rolling out and usually just eat the ban if they get one.
GM ain't unbanning him if he stole something, so the fact that they unbanned him is proof enough

There are like 4-6 of these style of posts here a day, which is why the guy is getting such a hard time.

https://wiki.project1999.com/Logfiles But maybe you do. And people are being mean to you because this is every single "I got banned and I don't know why" post ever. It sounds like you've already been unbanned though. People here can't help you get unbanned so posts like this are pointless, just communicate to the GM's and they'll sort it out. From their perspective: you took a valuable item from someone and did not return it, it's pretty irresponsible to take something like an FBSS and then just go AFK without returning it first, you somehow don't even have logs to demonstrate what happened, and you got banned probably for this event. Instead of being upset at them, you should understand what it looks like and acknowledge its incredibly suspect. Good luck finding whoever gave it to you, though!
