No I still haven’t seen the show, and yes this guy is a sensationalist with a heavy political bias who for some reason thinks shouting everything makes it sound more important

But regardless, if he’s right and the latest episode had a “they took er jerbs” theme that’s pretty funny

The writing isn’t the greatest. Personally I am watching the show since I have interest in the topic, but even with the cringe scenes it has some well crafted ones too. Love the actor playing Elrond and his interactions with the dwarves. I think that is the best thing they made.

Isn't it the writer's first writing job?

I think that was some of the controversy. They spent...a billion dollars(?) on the project and they hire a writer fresh off the street?

Kind of weird. Probably nepotism.

The show looks like some after-school CW teen drama.

Which is a shame. I always thought Star Wars was too nerdy for me, but The Mandalorian did a lot to bring normies into Star Wars. They could do the same for Lord of the Rings, but they failed with this one imo. It just looks and feels low budget (ironically enough)

The visual artist did their job for the show, the visuals in some scenes are amazing. And I think the actors are quality.
to me the writing is the biggest problem. But the show isn’t over yet, so we will see where it ends up.

Despite the criticisms, it’s worth atleast watching the first episode to see if people would enjoy it. I have spoken with multiple people I know who said they like the show. So it’s not a dumpster fire like some critics make it out as.
