i've never actually watched him but the small business owners thing (as in politicians claiming to protect them for one reason or another) is often a cover story for large corporations and their interests if you pay attention to popular media and the terms they use. citations needed is a good podcast for that purpose. the small business tyrant is a real force that many of us working class fuckers are familiar with even if we don't have a term for it.

A lot of stores are franchises where the building and land is technically owned by the megacorp but the operator/propietor that actually make a da money is a small business dude/dudette.

McDonalds is a huge landlord and I want some pancakes rn.

are you telling me this because you think i don't know or because it's supposed to be a defense of a moderate system

i realize how it works on the basic level, i've worked for plenty of these small business tyrants in the hotel industry

No I just want some pancakes and in the morning I will buy them from a small business owner at his McDonalds franchise location and eat them with my mouth.

that's fair. back in the ancient times when i could go to regular people restaurants, i ate at IHOP once a month minimum. or waffle house. this is the south, after all.

No waffle house out here and the IHOP is right by the hospital which is I guess a good location for it.

McDonald’s cost about $1-1.5 million for a good one in a decent area

They are increasingly being bought by equity firms. Not really the “small business owner” you’re pretending they are
