why is EC the auction zone?

As has been mentioned a few other times in this thread, EC is a central location of the world that is close to both a good bank and an evil bank. The EC tunnel is a large identifiable landmark with many different, easily identifiable sections (entrance, T1, T2, T3, Shady) that has no good-aligned guards or mobs patrolling. How the heck can you still recommend Gfay (good-only bank, good-only guards, roaming faeries) over EC? Jeeze people, think of others' needs for once in your loveless lives!

What I would actually like to add to this discussion however is that traveling merchants profit highly from trying to sell twink items in the Qeynos and Faydwer zones simply because most of the /auction action is centralized in EC, leaving the markets in other zones without competition =)

That and it was close to the most popular zones in the game: Oasis, Guk, SolA/B, Highpass/keep. Gfay is a bitch to get to without a port while fully half of the game's races start within a 10-minute run of EC and none of the evil races can even physically travel to Gfay, let alone bank there, and most people ran on two frames per second back then which is a bad combination with platforms high in the air while heavily encumbered. Gfay made absolutely no sense as the primary trade zone except on PvP servers.

seemed like Povar had 2 trade zones which was Gfay and Ec which both was always over populated. EC seems like the right choice easy for everyone to bank at

Don't over think it. You can auction in any zone. GFay had plenty of action on Fennin. Fact. So did other zones. Most of you are smart enough to know where the best zone is to auction your wares. So let's not be elitist and guide everyone to EC for everything. Some of us are starting out nekkid and building slowly with no outside help.
