![]() These threads pop up regularly enough that I have to wonder why the GMs don't tell people why they get banned. What's the point of not telling people why you're punishing them when they might have done something wrong without knowing it? They won't realize why it happened. It seems like it'd be less trouble to send them a tell or e-mail with a brief reason than it is to reply to every post they inevitably make wondering why the hell they were banned. If the bans were mistakes, as has been known to happen, then giving a reason for the ban would let the player immediately know how to address it and appeal. If it was a justified ban but the player didn't know they were doing something wrong, that seems to be the right time for them to learn. If they were knowingly doing something wrong, the five seconds it takes to type a tell isn't exactly a big waste considering the other cases where it would have been helpful.
I'm sure we have lost players to mistake bans who had no idea why they got banned and didn't know how to appeal. Petitions can take a pretty long time to resolve or even get an answer, and if they had been told they were banned for 2-boxing when in reality they just had no idea that someone else on their campus wifi also played p99 or something, they'd at least know why it happened and how to approach the GMs. I'm just a little worried about the number of threads to the tune of "I'm a new player, I just got banned and I have absolutely no idea why it happened." Seems like the best way to lose players. It's happening up to several times a week. Is there an actual reason why you ban people without even telling them what they did?

however to lose "a few days" to a ban when I have done nothing wrong and not even know why? I can see why your cautioning against "throwing a hissy fit" cause that would be enough to send even the most level headded person into one, I mean really, if they can be that quick to ban without warning, I see no reason it should take a week or even more than a day to get answers and resolve the issue.

![]() Two things to bear in mind though, we have classic eq back, and the staff work for free. I think people lose sight of this sometimes.

![]() I wouldn't worry about the trolls. It sucks, but it seems all you can do is make your petition in the correct place, let it work its course, and hope it doesn't take too long. I don't know, maybe you'll even get a temporary xp boost for lost time, or some other perk for the mistake, assuming it was a mistake.
