If the Ukrainian soldiers stand and die to the last man, a true heroism story in our time, this will be incredible negative world-wide public relations for Russia. There will be no way to spin it, nor a way to ever redeem themselves unless they try to renounce Putin at some future point years later. I think Putin and Russia expected the Ukrainians to surrender right away but that is not happening

They can shrug off sanctions and negative PR, but both will still have some effect
