Putin opened his speech today with declaring the fall of the Soviet Union a disaster and that it was "madness" that the former National Republics were allowed to become independent.

That is the Russian case for belligerence(casus belli) and it extends way beyond the Ukraine.

If shit gets out of control and Russia attacks us here in a significant way I’ll totally be down to sign up to go die fighting them. No dependents, good at following orders, I’ll totally be down

But it will only be in retaliation for being attacked and not because Europe has found a way to make us their bitch, fighting their battles for them
