New EQ player!

Hello, I was introduced to P99 by a few groups of friends, and am proud to play EverQuest for the first time! I am happy to be a part of this community which seems to be inclusive to both returning and newer players alike. I enjoy tanking and melee dps in modern MMOs (I've played both WoW and Eve); my starting characters are an iksar monk (pulling/dps), ogre warrior (tanking), and an ogre shaman (support/healing). Out of the three, many players have recommended shaman as a first character for solo play and plat farming. I find healing stressful in raids, but shaman seems more focused on other things as a support role.

Being an older game, I am focused on making my life easier by trying perfectly legal UI mods for convenience sake. Under the "Getting Started" thread under "2.6 Optional Files" the "Velious UI Files" link seems to be broken. I would love to see what others have tried without violating the community rules if possible. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've spent some time reading guides on both this site and on youtube to get myself started which include recommended/essential macros and keybindings. Any suggestions you wish to share are appreciated!
