Pets should be proccing sword of runes
In the spirit of bringing up crap I remember being different... pets should be proccing target specific spells (anti undead/summoned/etc) on all npcs til just before velious.
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/hist...es-2000-2.html ------------------------------ November 29, 2000 3:00 am ------------------------------ *Patch Day* Today's patch includes updates to the client to address some problems reported by people in regards to the DX7 update, as well as other gameplay issues: - Corrected an older bug that would cause people to stop gaining or losing faction with associates when the primary faction was at its maximum or minimum. Players will now be able to further modify associate factions in the appropriate direction. - Random-effects on weapons carried by pets will now behave as if the pet is a player character rather than an NPC. The change last patch reduced them to a rate below player characters. As part of this patch, target-specific random effects will only work if the target is the intended type. For instance, a weapon that processes "Dismiss Summoned" will only "go off" on a summoned NPC instead of everything.

This has been requested since the launch of the server, don't think it will happen. I believe the Dev response was similar to this:
"We aren't going to spend time making pet classes more powerful when we have more serious stuff to work on"

Pets are still pretty fubar in many ways. Can't send them past some stupidly close range instead of nearly an entire zone away, aggro broken as all fuck, procs not working classic-wise, etc. etc.

For example: You are in Upper guk and loot a ghoulbane, you give it to your pet, and then later you loot another ghoulbane and give it to your pet. It should equip it in its offhand and use it, even though its lore and primary only for players. I used to do this all the time with weapons that are not worth holding onto.

Bump! I think this would be cool to have.

Some pets actually do proc it on everything, like the level 39 necro pet (only one I can confirm right now). But (most?) others won't, like the 29 fire pet for example or charmed mobs (an abhorrent on hate) which I tried with my enchanter. So I hope it'll be fixed to work for all pets / npcs, because as it is right now it's kind of unfair if only others can use the things you summon to their full effect but not yourself.

Above everything else the thing I want to see most is the ability to loot items off charmed pets. Really stupid that you can't give pets valuable stuff because you won't get it back.
Also keeps you from giving noobs nice surprises.

I think pets were also given player code for procs in that they can't hit targets x amount above their level, which should not happen. Necro pets are lifetapping extremely rarely now.
