So I started with this project after meeting Nilbog on a couple of other "classic" emu servers. They all just closed up shop with no warning to anyone. I was also frustrated with all the things that were just flat out wrong on every emu server and thought I could do a better job myself. Nilbog invited me to help him with this server at that point. The single biggest regret I have had the entire time I have been here was making my forum name the same as my play name. When we started this out we had a small and to be honest, a very polite community of people who were here helping and testing who all wanted the same thing. We did not predict more than 80-150 people tops to be playing on this server based on the population of other emu servers. By the time it was obvious this was going to be much bigger it was too late. My guild knew who I was, I liked the people I played with...there would be no hiding who I was. I helped develop this project because I wanted to experience EQ as it was before Sony ruined it, just like everyone else. I did this because I wanted to play it....I didn't do this to be a hero, or to try and get a job from it, I did it because I wanted to play.
As for why I lead a guild....well way back when, Crow quit, then shortly after Otto quit, I happened to be the one left holding the bag. Then when I was ready to quit, Ektar quit and I was still holding the bag. There was a very long period of time that I was not developing or helping at all whatsoever (Plane of Hate-Plane of Sky), yet the gm favoritism still went on. As the leader of IB/TR my guild has always been held to the server rules and expected to take the high road. Suggesting that I dont put the server first is a complete joke and even a bigger knock on the character of anyone who suggest that I dont. Anyone who claims this simply does not take the time to pay attention or attempt to have a halfway decent conversation with me.
IB/TR outs their own people when a rule is broken/exploited. They are reported to the Staff even when a suspicion comes up. The rules is something that is taken quite serious by me. Been a couple times I pushed for more severe punishments than what was handed out as well. When I actually had a GM account on the server I banned members of IB for rule issues. Why would I do this if I didn't care? TR/IB has never had a guild mule account full of duped dragon loot that was used to hand out to people. TR/IB's guild leader never trained another guild in fear with the cazic train. TR/IB's guild leader never used ShowEQ to go track and kill quillmane for himself like another Dev/guildleader did. TR/IB never had any sort of spawn timer/used any info of the sort to go prep for the second something spawned like another guild's leadership did. TR/IB's guild bank has never been RMT'd or skimmed from. TR/IB uses trackers to track each and every mob that we track, not showeq. TR/IB never crashed a zone to get the upperhand on a mob from another guild.
TR/IB is not innocent either. There have been some individuals who made poor choices and they were dealt with by the p99staff as well as internally, but there is no comparison in my opinion to the faults TR/IB has had versus other players/guilds. There is no favoritism, im not on the dev forums, im not in IRC, I have no GM account. When something goes wrong, I am 95% of the time NOT the one who petitions or deals with the staff...for the simple reason of that I DO NOT want the stigma of being favored either.
When I came back to help develop Kunark it was with the stipulation that I no longer lead raids-period. The reason being from Nilbog was that having database access "could" give my guild an advantage over another as far as mechanics went. Some of my guild doesn't even know thats the reason why I am usually completely silent on raids. We have had Devs in our guildchat, had Devs in our TS/Vent...on a raid I dont use guildchat, I dont use TS/vent because that was the committment I made to nilbog. Anyone who has played with me since Plane of Sky can vouch for that. I have not had database access since Kunark launched. If Nilbog would like me to help with Velious I will be helping with Velious. Having me as the guild leader gives us no advantage that any other guild could have. As for the Vox lair incident, I already admitted I fucked up on that one, I explained myself here:

Again I am sorry that I was wrong on that, but hell I didnt fuck up melee tables, boss spawn timers, overhaste plane of sky, abuse tumpy tonics. I made one mistake off memory but in the process I did fix alot of other things that were wrong with the vox lair/giants.
I don't post here normally because of the forum title and I will simply just never convince some of you of anything different than what you want to believe. So Uthgaard, how do I feel about my name being dragged through the mud? I honestly stopped caring a long time ago because I frankly cannot do anything about it, people will believe what they want to believe. Nilbog, Rogean, and yourself have access to all the logs to see what I have done. You have database and server access to see exactly what I do and do not have access to. Whenever that is challenged by a player you all have the ability to squash that and set the record straight. Nilbog outlined procedure on how things like this were to be dealt with in the past and it would be nice if it were followed through with.
As for the post in the main topic of the thread...kids shove back and forth...maybe TR went too far with this one. Perun has take care of it. As for the guild perception of DEV/GM involvement/favoritism, when no matter what you do people still acuse you of it, sometimes its just easier to roll with it and troll yourselves. TR made a complete mockery of it with the guild recruitment post and this VP post...if people cant see that...well I dunno. Sorry I got to this late...I do work for a living as well.
In closing, like I said, if I could go back and change the name I would have. I can't do anything about it now. If people want to deny me the right to play on what I helped to create, I'm sorry but I hope you all enjoy the server as much as I do. Im just a normal guy, I wanted to experience classic eq like the rest of you and thats what I'm doing. Cheating/getting favors would be counterproductive to that goal and with my access/powers is impossible. So go ahead and flame on, or I challenge some of you to spark up a conversation with me, you may be surprised.
