This is kinda common sense shit, even a 17yr old should understand. I'm not victim blaming here, but let me use an analogy. I see a store being robbed by a gang. I stand outside as the gang hands merchandise hand over fist out the window to a waiting truck. I pull out my phone and the gang can now hear me saying "yes 911, I'd like to report a robbery". All of a sudden I get knocked the F out! Or shot. Or stabbed. But definitely something. When all I would need to do to avoid this would be to move out of earshot and eyesight of the gang THEN call the police. Again pretty common sense shit

I see your point, but I feel like on that particular night under the circumstances, there's really nothing you could do short of actively joining and participating in the riots to avoid getting attacked by those psychos, and even then they might still find a reason to attack you.
The blame ultimately has to lay with the rioters who clearly made the decision to pursue and attack him. He took every opportunity to get away, repeatedly told them he was no threat to them and meant no harm, and they kept chasing him and throwing things at him. "Unarmed" is a stupid argument always, you can kill somebody with one punch to the face, especially on pavement where they can fall and split their head open. That is ostensibly what the first pedo guy was trying to do.
Once you point out it was legit self defense, people then pivot to "yeah well, he shouldn't have gone out there! If he hadn't gone out there, those people would still be alive!". Like, that's great, and if those idiots hadn't decided to riot Kyle wouldn't have gone out there. See? We could do this all day, but it's all mental gymnastics to blame the side you wanna blame. He's 100% innocent, and even if you hate the guy you should be able to admit that or you're just being dishonest.
(Btw when I say "you" I don't mean literally you, but rather some of the other posters itt)
