Also Kyle isn't a monster. He's probably the most innocent of them all. Yet he failed his trial of manhood intelligence litmus test and got himself stuck before a jury. Vigilantes do not. Their presence (and the fact they were armed with military style weapons) enflamed the situation and made it more dangerous for everyone.
