I heard a bible prophecy guy say once that movies and stories are a conspiracy to prepare us for an alien arrival and it's all the illuminate in Hollywood that are doing it and I was like that is bull smack. Because as a super fan I know that the real reason is because culturally that is what kids were into in the 90s and artists and writers just tried to one up each other and each year it would get more and more insane. It's free market shock value. You cant make it about full frontal rape if you didn't slowly get there from red shoe diaries.

But deep down I wonder, maybe they are right, maybe there is some organized thing going on subconsciously that is making us interested in that shock value stuff in the first place.

like why are we on these boards talking about what were talking about, instead of on the garden board talking about potting plants and how happy the world is? Because we're edge lords.
