Leveling a new character on red again. Players are nice ofc, already been helped by two friendly druids just on my first time playing.

Excited for VZTZ 4.0 arriving shortly for testing, I think red99 with 2-boxxing new server (call it purple or something) would be a better long term solution, but VZTZ is rocking the old DEV that was on 3.0 so its probably the most legitimate side project since 2010.

Has anyone tried "Kingdom" based PvP? I see they've done deity-based rules etc.

I can only imagine the abyssal insanity that would happen if there was global OOC on blue and someone got kill stealed or something. Global OOC isn't part of classic everquest for a reason. They had the technology but it doesn't fit into the game correctly. When those channels got added in luclin they were detrimental to the feel of the game, one of the reasons luclin sucks. So please tell us what the last 10 years has taught you? Perhaps not to saddle us with corrupt GMS that were bribed and in their way contributed to the actions that led to the main competition to Nihilum guild being disbanded?? Which helped Nihilum do all of the things that led to their disbandment as well? Good golley. Yes we are asking for a bone to be thrown, please not a rock. We want to try another server, and enjoy it till it hits endgame velious, and then start a new server to enjoy again. The journey is the fun part, and there are things that staff and the players can do to make the journey even more fun. Here are some highlights of the great ideas coming from the red community that will help all future EQ emu servers with any substantial population: 1. Custom "legacy item" implementation. Either not in the game at all (which would be LIVE correct style as they were not included on all non launch servers) or in the game in some other way that does not create a toxic race-to-camp situation. Either an in-game currency casino which combats inflation, or randomized dungeon boss drop percentage. On a pvp server this could rotate through some bosses randomly and be announced so people could go to the battle zone to try to hold the manastone camp, which would be the easiest ever GM event since it only requires changing the loot table and telling us what mob has a 1% chance of dropping a manastone. On blue this would not work so well but you can imagine the easy ways to implement a similar idea on blue. 2. Modified Level progression. The mad rush to level 50 is partly due to the extreme value of getting manastones and DE masks for characters and accounts while they are available, so custom legacy item integration will fix this toxic aspect of new servers somewhat. However, a progressive level cap would force people to level up in the game at a more normal pace, since there would be less reason to hit the cap and therefore people might actually enjoy the game on their journey without the looming pressure to get first dragon kills faster than have ever been done before, or to get more manastones as an investment in the future in the server. Point 2 is extra important on red server because pvp at levels below 60 is particularly interesting. This system would allow low level pvp to be enjoyed and participated in on the Nilbog custom 2 teams Sullon server while the level caps are in place. Ultimately the sullon server has ZERO low level PVP action, but it is better than the present ruleset because it fixes OOR healing issues, and it allows high level team mates to assist the low levels on their team rather than leaving a twink PK to run rampant with no reason or ability to fight that twink PK which is our present situation. So point 2 makes a sullon ruleset have an enjoyable progressive experience for a while. Rallos Zek item loot ruleset is ideal because it is classic but its benefits favor the low level game which I have found to be something that is sneered at by both staff and many players perhaps because everyone came back to everquest to "win" this time which means being level 60 for as long as possible. Both of these items will help the future non pvp servers. These ideas fit into the vision of this project and were developed by the red community in the 6 + years of brainstorming how to make a good PVP server and by extension how to make a good server in general in 2021. You're welcome. You are also welcome to test these ideas on the apparently worthless swine server you call red pvp that doesn't deserve the "reward" of a new server before you implement them on blue 3.0 in the coming years.
