ICU's are frequently full, because there are many other things that can kill you besides covid. If we could wave a magic wand and covid disappeared forever, ICU's would still be full sometimes. This is not an argument at all. There could be serious longterm side effects of the vaccine. ICU's could fill up in the future because everyone who got the vaccine gets brain cancer or something. We simply don't know yet, that's kind of the rationale here. It's a free country, anyone can get the vaccine if they want it. And it's very effective, so if you get it you don't have to worry about unvaccinated people anymore. And unvaccinated people are still overwhelmingly unlikely to be hospitalized from covid. The stats are freely available from the cdc.
