Funny, I thought Obama's response to that issue was pretty good. He didn't hype it up, didn't turn it into a partisian issue, suggested at risk populations should take appropriate precautions, and otherwise let it die down naturally without causing a mass hysteria or trying to ruin the economy. Trump's response to covid was bungled at almost every step. The Biden administration is thus far as bad if not worse.

The media (which we all know is just a propaganda machine) used a giant red death count to place blame on Trump when not doing so when tens of thousands died during Obama’s term. That’s. Fucking. Hypocritical. I don’t care if Trump was dancing in a frog costume 15 hours a day for all of 2020, if you are going to blame the DEATHS of a virus on a President, do it equally. But the media is not fair or equal. It’s a propaganda machine. We all know this

My bad yeah they did seem high. It was 10,000+ us deaths. The point still stands. The media framing was completely different

Regardless the points I were trying to make are:

1. Obama was never blamed for a single of the 10,000+ H1N1 US deaths. Which is probably actually pretty fair, considering that

2. MOST of the policies implemented to handle pandemics are done state-side. And all of these things have much debated efficacy. Some states that implemented extreme lockdowns still had high deaths. Some states that didn’t, didn’t. Regardless of their efficiency, these decisions are all up to the states. Hospital management policies, that’s all local too

3. If we had a truly fair media, with criticism comes credit. The vaccine that dems worship was developed and fast tracked in Operation Lightspeed under Trump. When Biden claimed he could get the vaccine out to I forget exactly something 100 million Americans in x months, the US was already on track to meet that mark. Yet Biden easily steals credit for the vaccine development, which of course everyone predicted

4. A lot of the criticism was shit taken out of context or straight lies. The fish tank death is now a murder investigation, turns out even stupid people weren’t stupid enough to drink fish tank cleaner. Shining a light in the lungs was based on actual current treatment development that others have linked. What else, the drink bleach? This one is just all over the place but at no point did he say drink bleach. The quote I personally think is dumb, but I’ll put one part in caps: “ "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to HAVE TO USE MEDICAL DOCTORS WITH…”

That’s part of his quote. No medical doctor would inject someone with bleach. Did anyone try to inject bleach after this comment? I’m not saying it didn’t happen, I’m honestly curious, because the media putting out disclaimers like “hey don’t shoot yourself in the head to cure covid even if Trump tells you to” really don’t matter if no one was actually doing it to begin with

Right, the media as an entity is a separate issue. It's on par with old-time Pravda these days. Incredibly, modern Pravda might actually be better, something in my youth I never could have fathomed myself saying. I blame Fox News since it was hugely responsible for the the news-as-entertainment promotion of lies parade, but they all do it now.
