It literally isn't. There is a horse deworming medication that *contains* it. Can you not understand the difference? Ivermectin itself is literally approved by the FDA for use in humans for other ailments, it just hasn't been studied formally yet for treating covid. Different medications can treat different things, in different dosages. Ivermectin has not been studied for treating covid, since it's such a new disease. However it does show promise based on currently available data. Many doctors *are* prescribing it for particularly sick patients, after other options have failed.
