..and thats the danger with disinformation and a widespread lack of critical thinking skills. Whos the real victim here? Look around at what you are consuming and what they are feeding into your head. They (the ones creating and feeding disinformation) are trying to control people through overblown fears, anger, and tribalism to undermine the social contract and democracy for their own means and desire to seize power.

How many fake controversies are you going to fall for before you figure it out? Clinton foundation, uranium one, benghazi, death panels, pizza gate, lizard people, the big lie, climate change, the list goes on and on and on, and yet, people cant seem to understand the pattern and how they are being used. They are blinded by tribalism and anger.

The vaccine and coronavirus "controversy", liberty/freedom vs masks, etc are just yet another cycle in the continual attempt to undermine democracy and true freedom and liberty. They want to take it away from us so they can exploit us. Undermine our belief in institutions, by dividing people against each other, amplifying people's tribalism, selfishness and prejudices to convince them to support issues that go against their own self interest. And yet they do it without you even thinking twice about it.

To find the real victim here only takes a look in the mirror.

I hate to break it to you, but we never had anything close to an informed society that voted rationally for their self interest. It has always been an elite minority shaping public opinion through propaganda and misinformation.

The two party system is nothing more than controlled opposition for the ruling class. It's the method of controlling the parameters of debate and what is possible to ask for. The majority of people interested in politics I encounter -- they fail to spot this rather obvious fake split in America.

Your argument is an authoritarian argument. If you weren't blinded by a Democrat vs Republican worldview, you would see how obvious it is that a government shouldn't get to determine what domestic political interpretation is "dangerous misinformation." Especially since the establishment transparently uses accusations of misinformation against actors they dislike.

It was considered common sense most my life. You can't let the government control people's speech. No one can tell you what you must think. The answer to bad speech is good speech etc.

Freedom of speech is extremely American. Until very recently everyone agreed. This is one of the few issues I'm conservative on because I feel like this is something we need to conserve.

The recent forays into censorship haven't been proven to do anything particularly desirable. What good has come of it so far? What is the end goal? I see a lot of crappy enforcement of twitter policy demonetizing things pointlessly or maliciously (getting rid of anti-imperialist opinion online, covering up negative stories they don't like about VIPs etc). I haven't seen any break outs in unity since the censorship has started.

People need better political education . They don't need better political censorship. The establishment can't do anything to help people in this regard because their job is mostly to shape our opinion to support them -- they can't be neutral.

The main driver for a lot of this new social media regulation is actually economic in nature. The new generations don't watch TV -- they only get a couple hundred thousand viewers a night that are under 40.

Youtube however, is killing it with younger people. So they had to regulate misinformation on youtube pronto! How do we fight misinformation? You guessed it -- you discourage the new popular news channels and encourage MSNBC and CNN. Oh and of course Fox. Fox throws a fit until they are given the same special treatment. The dopes that watch it think they actually give a shit about free speech lol. No, they are just concerned of the liberal media not including them in their attempt to dominate the next generation's information sources.

Twitter is the most obnoxious organization in existence. They patronizingly and paternalistically think they know what's best for you, and people just accept it.

Can't remember where I saw it, but they did some poll of biden voters and a sizeable portion said they wouldn't have voted for him if they had known about the hunter biden stuff. Twitter censored any sharing of that story before the election. If that isn't clear election tampering, I don't know what is

They are doing what they are doing because the congress calls Dorsey in 3 times a year to yell at him allowing people to think the wrong things. For a long time they resisted doing what the congress wanted...but then it became apparent people were too stupid to back them over their corrupt political representatives. So they capitualted.

Just look at their interactions with congress -- the tech guys don't actually believe this is about free speech or misinformation. This is about power and who gets to gatekeep the media.

They don't care. They just want to make money. They will side with whatever political force looks like it is winning.

There is a clear pattern in what they do censor -- its stuff that MSNBC, NYT, and CNN think they should. They sometimes walk it back if Fox argues they shouldn't have. They try to pretend its a neutral process, and there is a neutral process. But its clear they manually block things without any deliberation or review very quickly when the media is on their ass about something. Its clear they had a very hands off approach of enforcing their rules when it came to certain political events (BLM).
