Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? i cant say i like war.. most religions were born from wars..too many die , and are tortured in the name of freedom, allah, intolerance ,greed , ignorance , etc.. i like to read up on history any chance i get , because most of my generation have forsaken history..
