Here my the full story, which would be weird for me to just pull out of my ass:

Chris built bike jumping ramps and was working on one near family shed. I had a softball and I threw it as high up as I could with the intent for it to land somewhat near him and startle him. Dumb idea

I realized after I threw it watching it thst it was not going to hit near, it was going to hit him

So I yelled out CHRIS LOOK OUT! And he turned his head but it hit him square in the back from as high up as I could throw it, knocking him into his face
