I don't buy the notion of Trump supporters as victims. I think that's selling them short. Some large component of Trump's magnetism has been the ability for this nation's literal deplorables to see something of themselves in a person of real power. This political sect existed before Trump, but it has certainly evolved with him over these last 5 years into something of a toxic cult.
