The point I was trying to make was that bankers behave differently. A merchant will never attack you even at scowling whereas bankers do. So, there are obviously some differences there. Do merchants give xp on P99 (regular beta-neutral ones I mean, not "a goblin merchant" or whatever)? If not, then it seems like it matches what I can find on forums from 2001 and it's just merchants that had the reward removed to discourage players killing them. I haven't found anything mentioning bankers being changed except people talking about the one in Kael and he's not a "beta neutral" banker.
