Pretty sure I had Covid in February. Pretty much the sickest I have ever been. But that meant 4-5 days of all classic flu like symptoms, fever for days straight, sleeping 22 hours a day. Since this was pre-quarantine, I don't know if I lost taste or anything like that.. wasn't paying attention. Nor eating much. For the record, babies momma is an RN, which is most likely why I got it so early. It was not a fun experience. For the record, at that time i was 29, 6'3 250, not in immaculate cardiovascular shape (lmaofat) but also muscular. In retrospect, it probably took my body months to recover all the way. I also started having a lot of body aches for a little while there.

Since then i've been back in the gym, I can't say I see any lasting effects. I was able to run surprisingly well for how fat I got. (275 2 months ago, back down to 245 now)

This virus definitely isn't something to play around with. I view many of the measures we have done as necessary. If things were a little more out of control in April, there was going to be pretty serious issues. Hospitals were VERY full. If it got to the point where they were even more full than that? People sick dying on the ground outside the hospital because nobody could see them? Could have sparked some serious civil unrest. Worse than it already did.

HOWEVER....

We got fucking shafted. China FUCKED us. They fucked the world. I blame them first and foremost. They misreported, underreported, lied, hid bodies, they did everything they possibly could in order to not stop the factories. We could have had a strict travel ban and a one week intense quarantine and never heard about it again. Maybe that would have been too extreme considering our stance on viruses coming out of China in 2019. But from what I understand, they knew how bad it was, and waited months before revealing what they knew. Everyone points at America's death total of the virus.... lmao. I wonder what the REAL number was over there.

America did fuck up though. I knew this was going to be a drug out ordeal the moment quarantine started, yet every store that was still open had closed doors. We're talking about a virus that is all but stopping our economy, yet when I go to store for a sandwich, I had to open the doors. Every customer in and out of the store ..... we all were touching the same handle. It was nice outside. The doors should have been propped open.

It's a small example, but I knew we weren't ready. Not only were we not ready, BUT we were also TOO LATE. I probably gave Covid to everyone I knew before I stopped going into work. I all but know I had it in Feb. Nobody wore masks. It took me a few days to be completely out of commission sick.

Yet, when this is all said and done........... I bet more people die of suicide, drug relapses, never recover financially, have had their lives ruined because of the quarantine. It's not easy to say we're still doing the right thing. I personally know 0 people who DIED of covid. (And as someone living in New Jersey, it's a very fortunate thing). But.. I do know 4 people who relapsed and died during these last 8 months. Countless others who lost their livelihoods. I mean fuck, 2020 was by far the worst year of my own life. We've all but destroyed the food and service industry. We're looking at another lock down.... I just feel like at one point, the shit scale tips too heavily. At some point, another lockdown is going to do more harm than good.
That definitely sounds shitty, but given that you said your symptoms were "classic flu-like", how do you know it wasn't just a strain of influenza?

In 4th grade I got a bad flu and was sick for a week with a fever of 104, I was hallucinating and vomitting constantly. I also continued to feel generally lethargic for a month, and I was only 10. Had covid been a thing in the world at the time, I might have been tempted to attribute it to covid also.
