The client was designed to run in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Sounds like you're playing full screen on a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor. The easy fix is to play in windowed mode in a 4:3 ratio resolution close to what your monitor's rated for, or in so-called "borderless" mode:

You can also use the /viewport command to fine-tune the visible window so you don't have any parts off-screen.

Personally, I play on a 4k monitor (most of the time) with EQ in a window that's about half the screen. Seems a nice balance between UI size and readability (my eyes aren't what they used to be) and it lets me have a browser window open for either a video stream or looking at the p99 forums.
