Admittedly I’ve only been on these forums since 2018, but I honestly have never seen anyone who has come nearly as close to being as insane and unstable as this guy. It’s really kind of amazing. I guess it’s good to have our eyes open that crazy people like this person actually do exist. Side note, there are a couple of people on this thread who sound like legit people with military experience. The Surgeon is one such example. Recondojoe sounds like a guy who decided to create a tough guy persona for himself online in the hopes of getting the respect he doesn’t receive in real life, so he googled/researched different things about the military, bought patches, etc. with the goal of sounding/appearing knowledgeable enough about it that nerds on the internet would think he was cool.

But I digress, he had trophies like you wouldn't believe. He had all the flags and patches and shit, but the motherload was a bunch of 23mm shells he pulled out of a Shilka. He actually came home with several coke bottle sized anti-aircraft shells in his duffel bag, it was insane. We tried to make a cannon but our fabrication skills were lacking. I had one standing on my desk for the longest time everyone just assumed it was inert until I would start to shake it like a maraca. One day it was gone and then I found my father came to visit while I was gone and he went to my office and saw the shell and saw it was live so he took it and threw it into the Passaic river, right off the 8th st bridge going to Wallington. Crazy old man, I miss him.

Also knew armorers who would order parts for rifles and machine guns and mail them home piece by piece, and then assemble a complete weapon that was untraceable state-side. Was pretty easy to sneak certain things into shipping containers too. I legit slept with my night vision goggles tied to my belt with parachute cord, and stuffed into my cargo pocket because it was one of the most frequently stolen items because it was so small it was super easy to mail home. Had a lot of insane pictures too. Was an 18 year old kid at the time. Had no idea that it was illegal. We'll just say I deleted the fuck out of those, and even physically destroyed the hard-drive they were on once guys started getting arrested, haha.

Guys. Multiple. Mailing home half a million dollars. And they just told everyone about it, but no one got caught. Bullshit. How was it hilarious when she pulled out the money in front of people? Sounds like you were there for that too. Phone calls recorded... Really? Look. You need to really work on your story structure and not jump around perspectives so much as a narrator. How does anyone in the infantry get close enough to put things into shipping containers? That was always handled by a supply sergeant. Smelling more POAG the further we go. Or were you on one of those big bases with restaurants, and PXs, and MWR no-swearing rap battles nights? Every armorer I knew talked about doing the whole order parts and mail an untraceable machine gun home to assemble. It's a wives tale, or in this case a soldier's tale. That shit is tracked. Just like everyone in basic having those "you can't smoke me" stress cards, once you got out of basic. Or the, this guy I know totally went blind in basic after they butchered him by taking his wisdom teeth out. All nonsense. Everyone had parachute cord (actually colloquially called five fifty cord) tied to NODs, because... like... it's called a tie down, and everything was tied down... because like... that's just what you did in the infantry. All sensitive items were tied down. You didn't do it because stealing NODs was rampant, but because you didn't want to get smoked to death for losing them. Soooo Many Lies And Exaggerations So, here is a legitimate story about money and Iraq for those tired of your delusions. One mission we air assaulted into a large city north of Zab that had no frequent military presence. The briefings said there had never been coalition forces there, but M.I. is usually wrong. Because of the scale of the mission a photographer came along, normally they don't exist on any missions, but someone wanted to fluff their O.E.R. to make it seem like their planning was a success. We raid the first large house in the midst of searching the back bedroom, concrete floor, cabinets stuffed full of blankets and sheets, we find what must have been $50,000 U.S. and our eyes bulged. "Stuff that shit in your assault pack." And then, as luck would have it, that five foot three photographer lady, wobbles in, all thick and fat from no P.T. and starts taking pictures, followed by the Batallion X.O. So, no money for us. I'm sure people found money, thousands of dollars, tens even, and sent it home. But you didn't know any of them, and no one you knew had half a million fucking dollars sent home in trickles. Fuck. This guy.
