I'm irresistible and so is my writing. I write gripping prose full of wild twists and engaging humor. Harlan Ellison once said get them with the first sentence so I go in full-bore right away. My other hero, Hunter S. Thompson said show don't tell and then he blew his brains right the fuck out so I'm trying to be as vivid and colorful and write how I speak while polishing my revolver for later. When you lie to me you're lying to yourself.

![]() These people are only against masks because the other political team is for them. Back very early on when liberals / the state were saying masks don't do anything they were full on prepper-survivalist rushing out to hoard masks.
The teaching point here is it shows you which side is immune to logic and reason and which can change its schema when new facts present themselves. Adapt like every progressive society or perish like every conservative one.

You use 'progressive' like it's a synonym for good. It literally means rapid social change. The Paris Commune was a progressive society, and so were the Bolsheviks. Do you remember Pol Pot? Very progressive. Mao and the Long Progressive March? The conservative Roman Empire lasted 14 centuries. Now that I think about, conservative regimes outlast progressive ones almost every single time. I mean I'm looking back what, 10,000 years? Not seeing a single liberal and progressive society surviving more than 200 years anywhere.

You seem like a nice guy; naive but still nice. I live in a "progressive" utopia. I also visit a lot of "progressive" Utopian places. Between San Francisco, Portland and Seattle the number of progressive people is absolutely astounding. However all are filled with such hatred towards anything that comes out of the orange man's government/tweets/mouth (logic/sciency or not) is automatically bad. Here in Seattle we have an anti-vax movement that rivals the extremist alt-right levels of distrust. This also extends to anything done by any large private entity. The progressives are so progressive we've progressed to the point of being anti-progressive. This same mindset is very prevalent in nearly every major progressive city on the west coast.

It sounds like you've discovered half the problem with the USA political structure. Yea, the GOP does think it can get away with anything. It's the same way with democrats though. A lot of what is reported depends on who's doing the reporting. Fox will bash the left; CNN the right. Who can do what and get away with it depends on more factors than any one person can keep track of. Here's one example. When Washington State first "shut down" our democratic governor said only essential businesses can remain open.....ok, makes sense. Believe it or not Starbucks is considered essential. Small independent coffee stands had to close as did most smaller independent restaurants. Places that contribute "significantly" to the powers that be however are allowed to stay open.....ie, places that provide substantial financial contributions to our "democratic" (ie, left leaning) form of government.

Only that politics and geopolitics are one big free marketplace of ideas and that conservatism, royalism, loyalism, monarchism, traditionalism, or whatever else you want to call it always lose in the long run. Also, the Roman Empire at its inception was very much a progressive entity compared to its antecedents, and that 14 century era you cite refers to two (even three or more, depending on opinions) distinct states and successor states that called themselves 'Roman Empire'. But really my point was just that, the Confederacy, Austria-Hungary, and pre-Meiji Japan would like to have a word with you. And you can count the United States among those unless we find a way to dispose of the confederacy once and for all. Quote:
