I think this makes a lot of sense. The first thing a cleric or druid would do is try to summon a new eye. Fighters tend to lose them.

(really I'm just justifying my lvl 9 Cleric's mustache so I can sleep at night)

Naw eye patch is good genes. Some of us are born already at peak performance. The eyepatch is a fundamental sign of this.
