Diabetes? That's a risk factor for things like flu, corona, etc.

Don't get any of that pneumonia!

Don't have to argue with me, I have a foot in your camp. People are bad at assessing risks, and treat familiar risks with familiarity and new risks with panic.

As a society we don't take normal coughs and sneezes seriously enough, but at the same time fail to behave cordially each time there is a media hype flu.

Supply chains are run on a razor's edge. They aren't designed to handle people buying a month of supplies, and the suppliers have failed to adapt to accommodate this surge that was bound to happen (weekly shop + > 2 weeks larder in case of sickness).

Self isolation while infectious should be the norm, not the exception. Society should be adapted to suit people doing so.

Trolls can be useful though, as a means of arguing the point to others by extension. Often their responses allow the (one-sided) conversation to evolve in ways / venture into territory that normal conversations would not. It's like having philosophical discussions with a drunk; the rest of the bar is the intended audience. The drunk gets their attention, and the one talking back at him holds their attention.

Currently, in my medical school cohort, we all had the absolute worst "flu" of our lives.

I have worked in the emergency room for 2+ years as a tech, and I've never had anything remotely this bad, despite having tested positive for the flu more than a dozen times. (From patients coughing on me)

The school/hospital/clinics are refusing to test us for coronavirus, but we have all come to the decision we likely have it. We were in contact with someone in the vet school who was in China and got diagnosed.

The numbers are far worse than you think.

Or apparently not according to the experts.
You're neglecting the fact that the vast majority of employees are completely replaceable - and this is precisely how they're viewed.

Unless you have an advanced, specialized degree there's likely tens-of-thousands (or more) people who could readily replace you.

ESPECIALLY true for jobs like retail, foodservice, hospitality etc, some of which don't even require a HS diploma. McDonald's doesn't care if 25,000 of their employees die from COVID19 because they were forced to work during a pandemic as long as they keep the profits rolling in! When things blow over they will simply be replaced. And they'll never be held responsible for any negligence - good luck PROVING that anyone contracted a virus because they were forced to goto work; or for that matter weren't technically FORCED to work, but in reality they had to prevent themselves from ending up homeless and/or starving.

Hell MANY of those people are gonna be replaced by machines over the next decade anyways.
