It's like, guys that jump out of tall buildings, it's because the building is too tall. Damn those tall buildings! Hey it's in the paper, "dude jumps off of tall building!" Must be improper city zoning of course! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Dude jumps off bridge? Nah, just a little splash, no one wants to hear that, wont make the paper. But BLOOD and GUTS all over the sidewalk to the horror of all?!? Front page news, and gf that said "eww, your weird" hears it for years. There is just no way of avoiding the obvious.

this.

depression can be as much of a life threatening disease as what those poor unfortunate kids in Africa have.

they are both terrible, and neither is more tragic than the other because they were both brought on by a sickness that could have been cured, or at the very least treated.

hahahahahaha.

Are you seriously comparing an over-pampered American kid to an impoverished 3rd world kid?

Fucking terrible thread. I don't give a shit whether you think suicide is a cop-out, maybe it is. But if someone feels so bad about their life that they end it themselves, it's more than being "emo." It's no less sad than any other way of dying. You don't make fucking jokes about it, it is NEVER funny.

Its not funny but its not sad and if anything it is insulting. Thousands of people die from things they can't do anything about on a daily basis and this guy had any opportunity to change things. Many people do not have a chance to change their position no matter how hard they try... that is sad. This is not sad because he could have done something and he didn't, so who cares. If anything it is insulting to the millions of people who die without ever being able to have such an opportunity.

Like me ol' friend swearengen used to say,
"Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. "

I simply disagree. I'm not religious, and yet suicide has to rank up as one of the most terrible "sins" one can commit against one's loved ones. Wasting life like that- depressed or not- after your parent/s and everyone around you have invested so much . . .that's entirely fucked up and I have no pity nor sympathy.

Not like their around to feel shitty about being made fun of anyway, now is it? Respect given where respect is due, someone who is willing to wound everyone they knew in such a manner does not deserve my reverence. Just like David Carradine doesn't.

You clearly don't know of anyone who has attempted or committed suicide if it isn't "sad" to you. Yeah they could have changed it, they could have made their lives better. And no doubt they should have taken the alternative. But their life was, to them, not worth changing. That is plain fucking sad, and you are either just being difficult/trolling or just ignorant if you think suicide isn't sad.

Come on now. He's ignorant because he doesn't believe what you believe? Sounds kind of like ignorance to me. You know Im not trying to pick on you, really, but I lost my father to suicide, basically. It's not SAD the fact that he did it. It's SAD that he's no longer here. But his method of doing so doesn't draw any sympathy from even his own son. I think that's the difference here. Nobody is saying that it's not sad he is gone or it's sad that his parents have to deal with him not being around on holidays. It's just that it's not sad the method he went out on. Regardless of the reasons.

Actually, my mom attempted twice while I was still attending high school. I don't personally know anyone who has actually succeeded.

But keep on your high horse. Your morals are superior.
I obviously have a different cultural view on suicide than you do.
