There were definitely info on sites like Allakhazam, and forum discussions, but it was hard-won for for the earlier discoveries. Even then, information being available =/= an educated player base. That was my experience grouping in classic-Velious.
For in-depth mechanics, many of which required data mining, sure. I.e., pet EXP rules, EXP penalties, how EXP is shared between group members, damage calculations, etc.

But other things, such as quest turn-in requirements, mob health and spawn times, place holders, etc. were well known by Velious.

We had castersrealm and stuff too already in 2000 which was great for everything

God I loved the casters realm illustrations for the class sections.

I've got a ton of experience with the mediawiki base. I'm sure many other people who play Project 1999 also do. Would need access to source code. Is it up on github somewhere?
