No offense to you but I hate when non bards try to chime in about stats like str and dex for a bard and then promote using weapons... if a bard is using weapons after like lvl 27 they are doing it all wrong.
I mained multiple bards and here's a video of me killing Seafuries with my level 57 and alternating charm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md8x...ature=youtu.be.
I also made a guide that explained everything you needed to know and everything that the class is capable of.

Dex helps you with missed notes, although not my first choice. STR has benefits too. And that's besides the fact that your resists are literally useless in a group or when you're soloing non-casters, which is 80% of the mobs.

And regarding melee:

1. I used to fear kite and melee because it intuitively did more damage.
2. You don't get your good single target dots until 38 and 46 (chant of flame / frost), and your AOE will break mez.
3. If you're twisting 3-4 dots then you're not twisting buffs.
4. If you're meleeing with FBSS, haste, good weapons, and twisting 4 other buffs then thats benefiting the group far more then if you're just standing there dotting.
5. Do you have any math to support your claim?

That's why I think you're better off meleeing, besides during downtime. But if you can prove it with numbers or parses then maybe i'll change my mind.
