You're right, I didn't know "social decay" is a hallmark of fascist rhetoric, but I don't care either. I'm not interested in fascist rhetoric. I don't think things and then go, "shit that guy who believes things that I do not thought this same thing, therefore I must be mistaken!" ^o^ See the spoon analogy along with the rest of my treatment of the broken reasoning beneath Ald's argument, my explanation of what I mean when I say "social decay," and Patriam's expansive post on what bad behavior looks like and why shame matters. We should be ashamed when we do wrong and it is our responsibility to hold one another accountable. That doesn't mean we should shame one another for innocuous behavior and it should be obvious that shaming good behavior is hallmark of a broken mind.

It is immoral to allow others, particularly those closest to us, to destroy themselves because we are too cowardly to engage in confrontation or let them quietly compromise their long term livelihood because we are too selfish to assume responsibility for hurting them or impinging their liberties in the short term. Can this line of reasoning be perverted? Absolutely, but so can anything else. You don't throw things away because they were touched by someone nasty though.
well now you know
