Seems that there is a lot of misconception of what "Build the wall" really means and to who.

I think for most of us that have any kind of advanced degree (or clarity of thought) know that $5.7 billion is not going to be enough to build a wall from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. That's roughly 1900 miles. Currently there is about 700 miles of border fencing along the southern border spanning 4 states. Trump wants to build another 1000 miles of border "wall" with the remainder being natural obstacles and barriers (mountains, rivers, desert etc).

The $5.7b is to improve existing border security, hire more agents, more detention facilities, more technology and yes even a "little bit" more wall. What the $5.7b wont build is a barrier from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. That will likely cost $30-50 billion and would take YEARS to complete.

Remember when we built the Hoover Dam in 5 years?

Wish we had that kind of perserverence and goal-oriented laser focus nowadays. Still waiting on California's bullet-train to nowhere. It's been an ongoing project for 12 years now without much track laid. The CEO of the bullet train to nowhere makes more than the CEO of Amtrak, too.

Actually, one-third of the border has fencing or a wall.
