Strange Message

Someone just sent me a tell from a very high profile guild asking me if I was someone in their guild. When I said I wasn't, they replied. "Then why did you give me the magebot login right away:P"

I thought they might be messing with me but it did make me wonder. Can people hack a players account and send messages from the hacked accounts name? I've been playing my character for about a month and my account doesn't seem to have been messed with.
