Given the photo, I can only conclude that she wore him down with the pet before she wrecked him like that and looted his mace.

It sounds like to me that she was a shaman. Most likely the dog pet warped under the world as we all know can happen sometimes, and in the scuffle and she started to flee with SoW on and made it to some nearby "guards"
