Mages are great solo'ers, Fire pets DS and 1 large nuke for your lvl takes full xp nearly every time. I would even argue at most levels a mage will level faster than a necro, if you know what youre doing.

its slow from 52 on and not worth it, imo. I was able to clear Hole entrance all the way to drop down plus whatever I could reach before entrance respawned with a cleric, good xp even when starting to green out. Later lvls a duo is ideal to bring that fast xp back.

Iv played 3 mages on live and managed to get 3 to 60 here with epics. its a great class that gets a bad name on p99 for "reasons".

have fun learning the class, GL

Haven’t found a guide about soloing from 50-60. Where would one do it considering the preference for outdoor zones and single pulls? Skyfire? BW? WL?

I am fully aware that 50-60 on a mage will likely never be close to how efficient a chanter, necro or quad kiter can level, but trying to suss out if it’s realistic or just too awful to consider
If you're going the solo route, be sure to pick up one of these @ 46:

Also, I liked MSII with the barbarian guards in EF (the ones around the plains, not the ones guarding Halas). MSII (better for chaining, only 200 mana vs. 300 for regular pets) handles them very well, can keep all 3 down without having to med, basically sic MS pet, spam click BW staff and by the time they're running you click reclaim and finish off with a final staff click or nuke. EZPZ. Good until about 53 or so.

Then I just went to KC and killed singles while I was LFG (same basic strategy, btw, except earth pet for extra HPs) around entrance/courtyards. There's usually a few people around to at least pick up a duo and add some utility. Paladins, druids, necros- whatever.

At 57 I got bored with him and rolled another alt [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've thought about doing a Mage at times but the whole /pet attack reclaim nuke strategy seems....repetitive.

A lot more variety with a Necro. Or am I missing something?

Necromancers & Enchanters are the real cloth casters of the game. Magicians and Wizards are pretty screwed with the tools they're given.

Default solo as a gnome mage

FYI gnome is the only mage these other races do not compute.

gnome mage soloing..

steam font till 15 then cros in oasis till 21/23 then sister camp in OoT till 30 then highkeep guards till 40/42. at 42 - 49 i did chain petting on freeport guards it was slow as hell but at 49 you can go back to highkeep and solo bards/nobles camp till 55 then go to the basement the dark elf till 57.. and 57 - 60 in frontier mountains the named giants at the end of the mines in the giant fort or sea furry or ice giants. If you want the epic you have to join a guild that does HATE... its the only way to complete it.

do not heal your pet just chain summon and you need the mage focus items from temple of ro.
