Restricting free speech over the fear of losing pixels in a 20 year old game is pretty damn creepy/culty. If this forum was really that taboo, why would the GMs have created it in the first place? Context is key here. Sure I could maybe see punishment for certain types of bad behavior but a blanket RnF ban is asinine.

I feel for those over at Tempest. Been in several controlling guilds like this over the years and it's never fun. Remember, we all play for fun (I hope).

The censoring goes beyond just RnF though. In game they aren't allowed to /say, /ooc, /tell, and so on outside of guild. EQ is supposed to be a social game. Censoring all speech is the most asocial thing I can think of. It's the antithesis of what the game is supposed to be about.

Put another way, AM hasn't had many players that have stepped over the line to embarass the guild. A few got bans for GM-targetted stuff, but that goes across all guilds lately. Anyways I doubt most of the Tempest commoners are really any different and could be trusted.
