as for hardware specs -

Titanium will run on a cardboard box with two double A batteries taped to the side. (But not a Gateway!) As long as you can log into game just once, you can shut down almost everything that could cause you problems (vertex shaders, the new water effects etc.) Under options (alt+o). Since it's a classic server, and you will (hopefully) be using the files offered on the site here, problems that might have caused graphic lag such as the newer particle effects or the overly elaborate UI will already be negated.

The instructions offered here are really all you need to get yourself set up properly, and I do highly recommend that you do everything listed - you will enjoy your experience here all the more for taking the time to do so.
