The server doesn’t need complicated rules. It just needs antihax with limited to no intervention from “staff” other than fixing bugs and stopping trainers. The only custom thing I’d be interested in is PvP deaths sending you to east commons or something to add a sting for death while also preventing bind rushing. Maybe an option to summon your body with a two hour Rez effect debuff to act as an automated loot and scoot. If you could really find some immersion and coding then adding quests and itemization to underused areas of classic EQ would be cool.
I can't remember if it was VZ/TZ or LoZ but one of them had some amazing custom events. Everfrost caves raid? I'm not some purist, I want to capture the spirit of EQ pvp, not some cardboard carbon copy.

Been thinking about the idea of one toon per person, single box only.

you're thinking of the rile event from VZTZ 1.0 aka daxum's box

which was probably the most fun i've had on EQ but the community is way different now in a very bad way
