Historically Native Americans never had the name "Redcloud": they had "Redcloud (in Mohican)" or "Redcloud (in Sioux)". I'm sure if you used the Mohican/Sioux/whatever word for "Redcloud" it would be perfectly acceptable according to the naming policy.

Now it's true that modern Native Americans don't necessarily speak Mohican, and their name might actually be "Redcloud (in English)" ... but naming your character after a modern Native American name is like naming your character after a modern white protestant (ie. you don't name your character "Bob" or "Chris" do you?)

And your point is ...?

Hey look, it's an entire site of non-English Native American names expressed in English!

Not true! Winchester is a very European surname, and it got the axe for "copyright violation" despite being a perfectly legitimate, legal name that in no way breaks your precious immersion.

You're really never heard of a Winchester rifle OR the Winchester mystery house? Really?

Better luck next time!

My point is those names aren't immersion breaking. The English translation of those names are what are recognizable to us. Sittingbull is the English translation for Tȟatȟáŋka Íyotake. I cant even use those characters in game so since the game uses English i'd rather use the proper English translation. Thanks.

So can't use a legal name in a fantasy realm that doesn't have guns or rifles or mystery houses, because someone else might be using it somewhere else in a completely unrelated capacity?
