I didn't think it was terribly hard to do, but I had spent about 2 years casually prepping my druid for it and could just run the quest without the skill up nonsense. I'd imagine it's incredibly daunting if you're starting it as a fresh tradeskiller. Worth it? No. 8 is but we get 7. The shawl was more of a trophy piece than anything. There's other FT options.

No it’s not. It takes probably 50 hours of farming and 50k of trade skill ups. Don’t do it unless you are incredibly, incredibly bored

50 hours seems very conservative. I probably spent 50 hours just getting tailoring from 158 - 162. I say it's worth it, though. There are indeed other FT options, but FT stacks.

I mean, let's be honest, we're all masochists of one stripe or another here. Embrace the grind.

Only with different numerical values. There are easier ways to get FT1.

True, although the shawl could be a better option in some cases for a couple reasons: class, and preferred playstyle. If you're a hybrid, Choker of the Wretched isn't an option. If you're guildless, poor, and have a ton of time to spare, the grind might not seem all that bad - perhaps even enjoyable if you're into that kind of thing. So while I agree that the Choker is objectively easier to obtain, die-hard grinders might still prefer the long and arduous path. And on the note of playstyle, I'd rather subject myself to another shawl quest than endure any amount of A/A green text, which is something you're going to have to endure if you want a realistic shot at CT/ToV loot on a regular basis.

Its EQ - it takes tons of time to finish quests. The fact that peanut gallery just scoffs and says "pffffffaaaaawgh *excessively snide and obnoxious cuckold neckbeard scoff* - its easier to get other FT items" is incredibly "not classic."

If you want to actually play EQ and not put on the blindfold and swing at the pixel piñata, do the quest. Knock it out here and there as you get your levels, you still have a way to 60.

My shammy is only 28, but I plan on starting it up soon and just working on my tradeskills slowly over time to 60... still probably won't have it done by then lol
