MMORPGs might indeed be dying. I don't know if people that grew up using smart phones have any real sense of community. Also, PCs are just not all that popular. I don't think they really are the future of gaming.

That makes me sad to admit...

If there is ever going to be another big successful MMORPG...It will probably be one that isn't so fucking linear. This is my main concern about Pantheon...that it won't be a real sandbox -- more of higher quality EQ.

Once you have one big dungeon everyone wants in with one big boss that everyone wants items off of....

its boring for people above age 24 or so.

You got to encourage limitless options that people can choose from. Let them make their own meaning. Let them build their own towns and castles. Let them decide what some of the best dungeons and places to go are without hardcoding that into the system.

We want to feel like the real world -- except magic and dragons and we don't care if die.

Modern MMORPGs are like some watered down version of Zelda over and over.

Sounds a bit like what SWG tried over a decade ago. That could have been a truly great MMO. Shame it sucked.

Same as in EQ, PvP will be an afterthought in pantheon. And since i like PvE, that's ok for me. Swish, i think you will be disappointed if you go to pantheon for PvP. There are a lot of other games out there or coming soon with a PvP focus though.
