It is believed by some that there will be a Green / Recycle server released in the next couple years that will be a near-exact replica of the classic timeline and patch releases. This was originally the goal of P99, as Blue and Red are technically test servers to achieve this ultimate goal.

I think they've done a pretty good job, despite all the negativity that people toss around here.
Meaning after all the bug corrections / etc. leading into the current, they will basically follow the exact same framework on Green ?

Well is Green going to be PvE or PvP ?

Yep! I believe that's the plan

The general consensus is that it will be PVE.

Disclaimer, I haven't been here very long, but I did look at almost every single post I could get my hands on about a Green server before I downloaded the client, thinking maybe I should wait until it released to start playing. I'm glad I didn't!

Having said that, there are definitely heaps of people who post here who know more about this than I do.

The virgin white knights in this thread are disgusting. Getting mad at some nerd for day dreaming about his EQ wet dream because he isn't paying enough respect to these devs you idolize? Fuck off.

The devs know people want a new server. The only excuse left is the Chardok revamp. We will see if that really is the reason nothing has happened with a new server. If nothing ever happens it is probably because the people in charge don't feel like spending the time on it. Nothing you can do about that.

What is Rogean's reason for making this server in the first place? I would hope it leads to something substantial that he can sell some day or use to help his career. Maybe he is working on a deal from Daybreak, etc. Making big moves for the enjoyment of the player base sounds logical but not if the player base isn't his main concern. If I was him the player base wouldn't be my main concern. I would be happy 1000+ people are logging in and try to get the server as close to classic as I can to try to monetize it some how. It would be nice if Daybreak purchased Project1999 one day and let Rogean run it.

I think the original 'why' really was just because it is a thing we all loved, and thought should be preserved/recreated. But yeah, it's always good if something that can benefit them personally in some other way comes out of it, they've put a lot of work in. If we had to count on pure altruism in life we'd be in a sorry state.

I'm altruistic in all my endeavors, and I'm very successful. Below is a picture of my house and the computer I use to run P99.

I like how you can easily climb up on your roof in the summer time and get a sun tan.

Very kind of you to notice the ladder I installed. It was originally placed there to accommodate Bill the Howler. Bill is a vagabond who screams at birds as they fly by. He's an amazing roommate.

If you look closely, you can see the white bucket which is our communal bathroom. It is simply is leagues better than the socks that are popular with other users here. The bucket also doubles as a transportation device to fetch water from our drinking well.

The problem is, people are way too smart now for this ever to be a truly classic experience. We know that leveling in random spots in Norrath isn't as fast as Unrest and Guk. We know exactly where to farm items, how to work mechanics to our advantage. We know all the ZEMs we have the game way to figured out. With that being said, I'm one of those people with five level 60's, lots of plat and gear and I'd LOVE to see a server wipe and start over fresh.

Have you ever thought the homeless are the true altruists and the rest of us are just a gluttons?

The real "classic" experience was running the game on Windows 98 with a low-end Pentium and a 3dfx Voodoo card, a 40lb CRT displaying at 640x480, and a dialup connection that would rarely connect at anything higher than 24,000bps.
