I played on shards of dalaya which allows only 1 or 2 boxing. And I've played here now for a little bit.

At first i wanted to 2 box, but now that I've actually been on the server i totally agree even though times I wish I could 2 box simply so I could exp better. But the reason that is good is because it's classic. It's "real" everquest the way it used to be. The everquest that defined the very game. Would I love to have a pocket cleric? Sure. A nice buff bot following around all my groups sounds great.

But what about the cost? It's huge. It cheapens the feel of the game. Shards of Dalaya, back then, was a great emu of classic, but if you're going for classic then 2-boxing basically means you never get close to the original game you loved.

I wish two-boxing was allowed as long as one character was in EC, and if you left EC then one character would go LD. Would be nice to sell stuff while grouping on main =x

Hmm,
looks like Salty is a bot. In every threat he has to drop a line that contains the word blue. Botting gets banned, right?

On the subject, I believe as others do, P99 has become this good because of the strict adherence to the classic rules. Classic did limit boxing by putting a price on it. Something a free server can not. That's why it was limited here. Hard.

1. Would it be worth doubling the devs workload?
Significant over-estimate.

2. Would it really be as awesome as you think? Wouldn't EVERYONE ELSE 2box and take all the camps? So wouldn't you really just be in the same position anyway?
You're right.

3. Finally, why are you asking the devs to change THEIR game to suit YOUR wants and needs?
You make the post sound an awful lot more entitled than it is.

I can see the argument on both sides for this. For those who multi-boxed on live, it was a great time filler when you couldn't get a group, or could only be on for an hour or so. Sure playing a solo class is an option, but if your favorite class is a horrible soloing class, then your pretty much out of luck. At some point I may come back and try out P99 again as I do love the nostalgic feel of the game, but for me part of my 'personal' nostalgia is to play my barbarian warrior and shaman as a team.

Do I think that the community and those developing the environment should change something as passionate as this topic to accommodate my own personal nostalgia? No. Do I hope it eventually happens? Sure. If the devs ever did decide to allow this to happen, i'm sure they could figure out a way to limit the concerns about two boxing (if code allowed). Rate of exp limitations (to block P'leveling), limitations on being logged in both accounts in certain areas when both accounts are not present. etc.. Again, all of this would be alot of works for the devs, and I can completely understand them wanting to keep things as it is now, why not? it is successful!

Very true. I did picked a random amount that would be impressive enough to make my point. If I simply said the truth like, "It would assuredly increase the devs' workload, I am guessing by quite a bit, but I have no direct evidence of how much work goes into any of this." I'm thinking a shorter, over-simplified version of "double the work because you double the servers" would deliver my point more forcefully and in fewer words.

Again, I over did things for the sake of making a more forceful point. My point is that this is the devs' creation and they are free to do whatever they want with it. We are just lucky that they allow us to play period. And since they have stated many, many times that they really aren't interested in boxing on any level, there really is no reason to campaign for it. The best you could hope for is to use an argument to change their minds, and since their opinions appear to be pretty set, at least on this issue, it appears to me to be a pointless endeavor.

Now, how many people would actually read that block of text vs. a single line or two? I thought that the single line or two would be a better way to go, so I went that route. I apologize for severely over-simplifying my arguments to achieve that goal.
